Wings + Things

Discover birds, insects, and other winged creatures while exploring the science of flight and animal design

The Deep Dive

A Journey Through Wings + Things

Soar into the fascinating world of creatures with wings! In this engaging 20-lesson unit study, students will explore the incredible variety of animals that take to the skies—from colorful birds and buzzing insects to some surprising winged creatures they may not expect.

Along the way, they’ll discover how wings work and why they come in so many different shapes and sizes. Students will explore the science of flight, learn how winged animals survive and thrive in their environments, and uncover the special features that help them soar, glide, hover, or flutter through the air.

Each lesson invites curiosity and discovery as students observe the remarkable diversity found in the animal kingdom. Through engaging reading and hands-on activities, complex science concepts become approachable and exciting for young learners.

Rooted in a Christian worldview, this study also highlights the beauty and creativity of God’s design in nature, encouraging students to recognize His handiwork throughout the living world.

Whether your child enjoys watching birds, studying insects, or simply learning about the amazing ways animals move through the air, this unit invites them to explore the wonder and purpose behind wings and flight.
